Greats of ’88: Eddie the Eagle

The story

Greats of ’88 was a CBC Olympics series, sponsored by Ancestry.com, revisiting memorable stories from the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary. Michael Edwards, better known as Eddie the Eagle, was a British ski jumper whose determination made him one of the most memorable athletes of those Games.

I told it as a story about belief, focusing on how he kept competing while a whole nation was counting him out. As Lead Producer, I wrote and produced the piece.

It ran as part of CBC’s Greats of ’88 series, giving a new generation of viewers the story behind one of the most famous moments of the Calgary Games.
